Modern CNC turning has developed significantly in recent years and now enables a much more efficient and economical production of precision components. Modern CNC turning machines are often equipped with a main spindle, a sub-spindle, and two active tool turrets. This machine configuration allows several machining operations to be performed simultaneously, significantly reducing production times.

A key advantage is parallel machining. While one tool turret operates on the main spindle, the second turret can simultaneously perform additional machining operations such as drilling, turning, or thread cutting. The sub-spindle takes over the workpiece for back-side machining. This eliminates the need for separate re-clamping of the workpiece, which saves additional time and at the same time improves dimensional accuracy.

Through these simultaneous machining processes, machining time can be reduced by up to 50%. Operations that previously had to be performed sequentially can now run in parallel. This not only increases productivity but also improves the overall economic efficiency of production.

Another important aspect of modern CNC manufacturing is automated continuous operation. Many CNC turning machines are equipped with bar feeders, workpiece grippers, and automatic part unloading systems. As a result, they can operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (24/7), often largely unattended. Operators mainly perform tasks such as machine setup, tool monitoring, quality control, and maintenance.
